So, some might think me weird, but today I cried a few tears(well not really a few I actually cried) for the passing of the king of pop. When I was a little girl he was my favorite and despite the fact that he had many problems and looked like and alien, "The man was Brillant"! I remember as a little girl rocking out to michael on my hot pink boom box. I remember watching the premier of Smooth criminal. My dad almost wouldn't let us watch it but he gave in. His premier videos were always like little movies. I hate letting go of the things that remind me of a more care free time, Like all my sisters and I crowded around the tv to watch his videos. Oh, well such is life I guess. I wish jacob was home because I know what we would do. We'd throw on that thriller album and rock the night away in Micheal's memory. Rest in peace man. now here's a video of my favorite MJ song.

birds beware

All birds beware! Vogel has finally figured out how to catch you. This poor little black bird suffered the wrath of the bird dog this morning. Just because a dog might look like and idiot doesn't mean he won't finally evolve. He's has been studying your bird behavior and has now mastered it. Beware of the dumb looking german shorthair. He's not as dumb as he looks!! LOL
New addition to the pack
So, Last sunday I did something I rarely do. I picked up a dog running loose in my neighborhood. The reason I seldom do this is because people in my hood let their dogs run loose all the time. I do stop a lot though and I have a test I do. I whistle and up until now they look at me and haul butt back home, but not this time. This little dog jumped right up in my car. I had never seen him before and I knocked on almost every door in my neighborhood. No one claimed him and one lady said he had been running on her street for about a week like he was looking for someone. He had a collar on up until recently because he has a nice indention on his neck that suggests the collar was on rather tight and therefore could not have just fallen off. So, I searched craigslist and the state paper and I've been on the look out for signs. No such luck. The day I found him I drove him up to work and scanned for a microchip. No such luck there either. Anyway I vaccinated him while there and I also ran a heartworm test just to know what I might be dealing with. Bad news there also. He was a strong positive. I then ran a direct to see if he was a direct positive ( looking for the presence of microfilaria in the blood stream), I counted 8 of those nasty little boogers in his one little drop of blood. I thought this really sucks because even though I work for a prominate no kill shelter, if you pick up an animal they consider it a personal rescue. Which means you pay for all the treatment and then adopt it out through project pet. This is all understandable of course because if this policy didn't exist we'd be bringing in animals left and right and breaking their bank. It still sucks though because I absolutly can not afford this. On Vet. day ( we have a mobile vet. who comes by once a week to examine our animals) I took him in and dr. peeler took a look at him. He appears to be in good health despite the heartworms. She said she thought she heard a small heart murmur, but she couldn't be for sure because he was breathing hard. A murmur is not uncommon in heartworm cases so, she wasn't to worried. He's young ( about 2 years ) so, he should handle treatment well. I decided to take him to my own vet. for xrays this week to see how his lungs and heart look. Hopefully all will be well with that. I will be able to make payments on the treatment so, That will help. My aunt joanie donated some money to help me and I am so grateful for that. Besides all that I have a project which always makes me feel like I'm doing soemthing worthwhile in this world. He's a sweet boy and his case is a strange one to me. He's housetrained, crate trained, a healthy weight, with strong heartworms. Now in SC heartworms are prominate and common if not on prevention, but since he's only about two it suggests he contracted Hw's rather early in his life. This all leads me to believe he was kept outside, but he acts like and inside dog. He's acts very spoiled and it's taking him a while to acclimate to the other dogs. He's finally doing pretty good with them, but since he's not neutered he's playing alpha and boognish doesn't like that at all. There was only one fight in a week so, I've been lucky on that part. Jacob joked we are going to need a bigger place soon to house our growing pack. I stated firmly that he was a foster and we weren't keeping him, but then he reminded me that boognish, brie, beethoven( Rip),and orla were also fosters that never went anywhere. Bless his heart he handles this well and I'm so lucky to have him for a husband. So, anyway to all my friends and family I introduce Micro ( short for microfilaria ) my new charity case. If anyone is interested in adopting him, just say the word! peace.
